Tonight-Budget Public Input session
Have your say at tonight’s Public Input session. The meeting will take place at Council Chambers located at 10 Wellington Street East, Second Floor at 7:00 p.m.
Major projects for Ward 7 are the continued paving of the 15th Sideroad. How far north the project will continue is still being determined. Redesign of the 6th Line and the 10th Sideroad is another project staff have put forward.
As Chair of the Heritage Advisory Committee, I am advocating for the funds for the study Heritage study for Beeton. Under the Ontario Heritage Act, we must hire a consultant to undertake the initial survey of the public. Council seems hesitant to spend the money to undertake this project because of the estimated $40,000 it will initially cost. What do you think? Do you see the benefit in protecting and creating a heritage district in Beeton?
Another project you might be interested in is a new library in Tottenham. This library will be built as an extension to the community centre. It is proposed to be 5000 sq. feet, which is smaller than Beeton’s library. The idea is that the library programs will be able to use the community rooms in the Recreation centre. Do you believe this is a good idea and a big enough space?
Have your say-tonight or by sending me your thoughts.
New Year’s Levee
The Mayor is organizing a New Year’s Levee on Sunday January 8th from 12:30-3:00 p.m.
The event will take place at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre in Alliston, upstairs in the Hornet’s Nest where you can chat with the Mayor and Council and enjoy some light snacks and refreshments.
There will also be free public skating from 12:30-1:50 p.m.
Hope to see you then.
