Ward 7 constituents have a healthy list of good candidates from which to choose. It boiled down to Shira Harrison McIntyre for us based on our criteria. No, she isn’t a long-time resident, but she is intelligent, incredibly organized as has been our experience. She has a passion for the community and doing the right thing. That’s good enough for us.

I have know Shira for many years. She is an impressive person in many ways. Her whole working life has been focused on community service and action. She is intelligent, perceptive and empathetic. She is also realistic and practical. She works persistently on the goals she has set. She is a creative problem solver and excellent at multitasking.

For the years that I have know Shira, she has been engaged and enthusiastic contributor to the community. She has shown great dedication through her work with the Literacy Council of South Simcoe and also as a small business owner. Tirelessly, she has given much of her free time to many local events. I believe a person such as Shira would be an excellent asset to the community as a councillor of New Tecumseth.

I got to know Shira when we owned neighbouring businesses in Tottenham. During that time, Shira was a go-to person for advice and assistance with our growing business. Shira was always available to lend a hand with some of our own business open houses, workshops, BIA functions and Chamber community events. She is known to be a great listener and gives suggestions from multiple angles. I have always considered her a great friend and mentor. She makes an excellent candidate for our town council and I have no doubt she will add positive energy and compassion with every step!

We have known Shira for approximately ten years, both as a highly professional and experienced instructor at her own yoga studio and as a personal friend. Shira is a trustworthy, ambitious and goal-oriented individual who combines these qualities with a pleasant and compassionate nature.
